Community groups hit the streets of West Palm Beach on Thursday to raise awareness for one pandemic, in the midst of another.
Volunteers with the T. Leroy Jefferson Medical Society teamed up with the Health Council of Southeast Florida to share information about HIV.
One in seven people with HIV are unaware of their status.
People handed out flyers and information on Thursday to save lives.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic we can’t forget about the HIV epidemic,” said Laurel Dalton, the executive director of the T. Leroy Jefferson Medical Society. “There are many other health conditions people need to be mindful of during this time.”
Volunteers will be canvassing neighborhoods across Palm Beach County all month.
