Leaders hosted a COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Riviera Beach on Saturday.
The Health Care District of Palm Beach County teamed up with Faith Florida, the T. Leroy Jefferson Medical Society for the event at the St. James Church on West 35th Street.
Lead pastor Tony F. Drayton says these are key to help reduce the fear factor with the vaccine.
“We have a lot of work to do to ameliorate the fear factor. I just left a place in the city where it’s still prevalent in our community. So education is usually used to change mindsets and we need to change those mindsets and imagination of those captured by that fear factor. We have much work to do.”
Dr. Kitonga Kiminyo agrees. There’s a lot of work to do and these neighborhood clinics help.
“We have anywhere from 400 to 500 cases of COVID every day in Palm Beach County,” said Kiminyo, of the T. Leroy Jefferson Medical Society. “So it remains important to not only get tested, but get vaccinated. And we still have a lot of choices available to us, lots of sites, so we are asking as many people as possible to get vaccinated because we are not out of this pandemic yet.”
Pastor Drayton says he asked county leaders for a vaccine clinic eight months ago.
Those who came by and filled out a survey had a chance to win $100.
